On Rock Day, assemble the perfect Superband lineup. Without space or time limitations
by Nando Machado
There are so many talented bands, so many incredible musicians who have passed through my radar that the Topsify Brasil Portal launched a challenge: On Rock Day, assemble the perfect lineup of a supergroup. Without space or time limitations, as you can see below.
John Bonham (drums)
The heaviest and most creative drummer in rock. His beats are still "sung" today by millions of rock fans around the world. He was so important to Led Zeppelin that the band dissolved after his death. When Led Zeppelin reunited to play at Live Aid in 1985, the band had to call in two drummers to replace the great "Bonzo".
Cliff Burton (bass)
The bassist on Metallica's best albums. Precise right hand and overwhelming tones. Besides a unique stage presence, Cliff was the guy who united the band and brought the most rock 'n' roll influences to the quartet that helped create and popularize thrash metal. After Cliff left, Metallica was never the same…
Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar)
The greatest rhythm guitarist in rock history. His rhythm and precision are perfect and a dream for any lead guitarist to shine. Besides composing great riffs, he acts as the sound engineer for the dream band.
Eddie Van Halen (lead guitar)
Eddie Van Halen changed the way guitar is played. He innovated and influenced thousands of guitarists worldwide. EVH invented techniques and transformed the guitar into a different instrument. EVH is so good that on Van Halen's debut album he turned a guitar solo into one of the band's biggest hits.
Jon Lord (keyboards)
This keyboard genius was responsible for major Deep Purple hits and changed the language of keyboards in rock. He was also one of the main figures responsible for blending classical music and rock 'n' roll.
Freddie Mercury (vocals)
The greatest frontman in history, Freddie dominated a stadium like no one else. Beyond his unique voice and interpretations, Freddie was a great performer and composer. In addition to being a great pianist, he possessed a charisma as big as a packed Wembley Stadium.
