The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame released its list of nominees for 2023 last Wednesday, the 1st. The honorees will be announced in May, and the ceremony is expected to take place in the second half of the year, although the location and date are yet to be confirmed.
Among the highlights of the list are veterans Iron Maiden , Rage Against the Machine , and Kate Bush . White Stripes , George Michael , and Missy Elliott are competing for the first time.
“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates. These artists created their own sounds that impacted generations and influenced countless others who followed in their footsteps,” said President John Sykes (via Radio Rock ).
Artists become eligible for nomination when their first commercial project, such as an album or single, was released more than 25 years ago.
In addition to the popular vote , which will be open until April 28th on the organization's website, the chosen artists will be selected by a group of over 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry.
