Robert Trujillo of Metallica talks about his favorite deep cut for playing live.

The song has all the favorite elements of a typical Metallica song, according to Trujillo.

Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo recently appeared on MMA Junkie . He spoke with Mike Bohn about the band's performance at the Triller Triad Combat , his love for MMA and the UFC, and answered fan questions.

Robert Trujillo specifically commented on his deep cut to play live. “My deep cut with Metallica is, by far, 'The Frayed Ends Of Sanity' ( …And Justice for All ). That’s a song I think we’ve played twice, maybe, no more than three times,” he said.

He clarifies that performing this song on tour is a rarity, as it is among the most "crazy" songs in the band's catalog.

“What I like about this particular song is that it has all the ingredients that I like in Metallica. It has powerful grooves, elements that make you headbang, but at the same time, it gets crazy in the middle section. It sounds progressive like that, and that's what I like, because there's something loose and reckless, but at the same time it's tense, so it has to be a musical body conceived for that section,” he added.

Finally, he reaffirms that "The Frayed Ends Of Sanity" is his favorite choice for a deep cut . "I don't know if we'll play it again, but I hope so."
