Robert Plant

Robert Plant explains why he disagrees with a Led Zeppelin reunion.

The musician makes no secret of his disinterest in the reunion.

Since Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham, rumors of a reunion have surrounded its remaining members, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones.

Despite great interest from fans, a reunion is not a possibility for vocalist Robert Plant, who has repeatedly expressed his desire to continue his solo career.

During a recent interview with Esquire , the musician finally explained the reason behind his reluctance to reunite with his former bandmates: “You know, Led Zeppelin was incredible (…) Back then. That’s not going to stop me from doing what I’m doing now. Whether it’s something that stands out or not, it doesn’t matter to me. Otherwise, I’d be a prostitute, and I’ll never be that.”

“I’m just a singer, and therefore I can get bored very quickly. And if I get bored very quickly, what will I do when I’m almost 70 years old? There’s no chance. So, I keep going all the time.”

He goes on to say that there's no reason to return to Led Zeppelin when his solo career is going so well: "The truth is, in the last 10 or 15 years, my work has been really well received. That's very good and makes me feel like I'm in the right place, at least for some people, even if others simply don't know it."

“My time has to be filled with joy and effort, humor and power, and absolute self-satisfaction,” Plant confessed. “This has nothing to do with Led Zeppelin. It’s what I’m doing now, with this band, on this tour.”

The lead singer is definitely not interested in joining his bandmates for shows or new material, but this year the group celebrates its 50th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones have teamed up for the release of an illustrated book According to Page , many more surprises are on the way.

Robert Plant is currently on tour promoting his latest album , Carry Fire, alongside his band, The Sensational Space Shifters.
