Led Zeppelin: Robert Plant explains the origin of his characteristic stage pose.

"I didn't know if I could hit the right note," the singer commented.

During the most recent episode of his podcast, Digging Deep , Robert Plant commented on the reason behind his characteristic stage pose, with his back arched sharply.

Presenter Matt Everitt brought up the topic, mentioning that many singers arch their backs to keep their chest open, to which Plant replied: “I did that many times because I didn’t know if I could hit the right note! [I thought] 'I’ll move as far away from the microphone as possible in case it’s not that good!'. Because it’s hard to know sometimes.”

Robert also commented that he thinks it would be a great help to be taller to make it easier to perform songs like "Immigrant Song," the classic by Led Zeppelin . "I would be so big that I would probably fail many times trying to hit the notes," he said.
