Pat O'Brien , former guitarist of Cannibal Corpse , received his sentence for charges of assault and threatening a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon , two years after the events that resulted in his departure from the band.
In 2018, O'Brien was arrested after breaking into and robbing a house. When the police arrived at the scene, the guitarist threatened the officers with a knife – all while his own residence was on fire.
At the rented residence, authorities found an arsenal containing 50 shotguns, 10 semi-automatic rifles, two handguns, 20 pistols, and two flamethrowers. After a week in jail, he was released on bail .
According to Blabbermouth , the sentence was handed down on March 16th of this year. The musician was sentenced to five years of probation, a fine of US$23,000 (equivalent to over R$128,000 at the current exchange rate), and 150 hours of community service. The sentence also includes diagnoses for alcohol and drug addiction, with testing on random dates to prove sobriety.
In 2020, after 23 years in Cannibal Corpse , O'Brien was replaced by Erik Rutan , who made his studio debut with the album Violence Unimagined , released in April of this year.
