The live version featuring Nikki Sixx and Marilyn Manson was performed at the Ozzfest festival.

Rob Zombie was joined by Nikki Sixx and Marilyn Manson for a cover of "Helter Skelter" at the Ozzfest festival.

In July, Manson and Zombie released a studio version of the cover, described as "heavier, stranger, and groove-oriented."

Mötley Crüe , Nikki Sixx's band, covered the song in 1983 on the album Shout At The Devil . The murderer Charles Manson had previously stated that the song inspired him to commit several of the murders.

Rob Zombie said he wanted a cover song to play with Marilyn Manson at shows. “After we talked, I realized the obvious song was 'Helter Skelter.' It was so obvious that neither of us had thought of it. So we decided to record it so the fans could hear it.”
