Rob Halford says Richie Faulkner saved Judas Priest

Halford talks about the guitarist's influence

In an interview with the Canadian newspaper The Georgia Straight, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford spoke about the changes brought about by guitarist Richie Faulkner, who replaced KK Downing in the band in 2011.

“He has his own style. We didn’t want an imitator, we didn’t want someone who was simply going to replicate things. The basic components of the songs were already written, but we told Richie: Don’t be afraid to do things your way, it’s important that you establish your own identity.”.

Halford said the positive reception from fans was noticeable, and commented on its importance: “Let’s be clear, Richie saved Judas Priest. If we hadn’t found him when we were looking for a guitarist, things would have been very different.”
