Rob Halford of Judas Priest was one of 250 people invited to help create Rolling Stone . In a video, Halford gave a track-by-track breakdown of his Top 10, which included Ronnie James Dio , Slayer , Motörhead , and others.

Including Metallica on his list, Halford chose the classic “Ride The Lightning,” which came in fourth on his podium. “I’m old school, man. I bet you guys feel the same way about Priest too. It’s crazy, right? Usually, it’s the first two or three albums you make in any band that become the benchmarks for who you are and what you’re all about. For me, the beginning of Metallica, the extraordinary way they interpreted their own style of metal and patented it with such unique force, only creates [more new things] today as much as it did back then,” he reflected.

Black Sabbath 's number one song, “Paranoid”, surpassed Metallica in the charts . “For me, it was one of the game-changing moments in music because it inaugurated and brought into the spotlight a new musical genre that illuminated the world,” said Rob Halford about the single. “For many of us, and especially for me as a young musician, 'Paranoid' took off like a rocket from heavy metal.” Check out the full list:
