Rob Halford , frontman of Judas Priest , battled prostate cancer which is now in remission. According to the vocalist, he was diagnosed and treated during the pandemic.

The information was revealed during a recent interview with Heavy Consequence in which he said: “I had my little battle with cancer a year ago, which I overcame and am in remission [from cancer] now, thank God. This happened while we were all in lockdown , so things happen for a reason, just like the events of time. I have nothing but gratitude for being at this point in my life, still doing what I love most,” said the 70-year-old musician.

Halford also revealed details about this period in the new chapter added to the updated edition of his biography, Confess . In the new chapter, the artist talks about being diagnosed with prostate cancer in the middle of the North American spring (in Brazil, happening between March and June) of 2020 and provides more details about the treatment. “I felt a combination of shock, horror, and strangely, relief – at least now I know! 'Am I going to die?' That was all I could think about,” the musician wrote.

“It was an exhausting year, I can’t deny it, but I’m very happy to have overcome it,” the musician added. According to Halford, the diagnosis came after many tests due to symptoms dating back to 2017.

For treatment, the Judas Priest vocalist chose prostatectomy surgery, which was successful and took place on July 5, 2020. Later, however, earlier this year, Halford discovered that the prostate cancer had not completely disappeared and underwent radiation therapy treatments, achieving a complete cure in June of this year.
