The vocalist defended Glenn Tipton's work
Rob Halford, frontman of Judas Priest, responded to former guitarist KK Downing's recent comment about Glenn Tipton and the band's current situation.
Downing released a statement earlier this week saying he is "shocked and stunned" that he was not invited to replace Glenn Tipton after his departure from Judas Priest.
Halford, during an interview with Fox Sports 910, said that Downing's comment was "completely superfluous" and he particularly disliked what was said about producer Andy Sneap.
In the statement, Downing implied that Andy's role on the band's new album, Firepower, was much greater than that of producer, to which Halford responded: "I would like to clarify and record what I have to say about the insinuation that Andy Sneap was playing Glenn's guitar parts on Firepower."
“I can tell you that this is 100% false. I was with Glenn when he was working on his parts and he put in a lot of effort. Imagine this guy with stage 10 Parkinson's disease. I've never seen anyone so brave. Every song was a challenge for him, but he managed to overcome it day after day.”
Halford goes on to say that this was the only thing that affected him, as he wants everyone to know and understand that Glenn Tipton did his best on this album and deserves recognition for his work.
KK Downing left Judas Priest in 2011, being replaced by Richie Faulkner, the band's current guitarist.
Glenn Tipton will not be joining Judas Priest on their Firepower promotional tour; Sneap will be going in his place.
