Halford says the band deserved to be introduced

On December 13th, it was announced that Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, and Nina Simone will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

Judas Priest was left out along with other artists such as Radiohead, Kate Bush, Rage Against The Machine, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, MC5 and LL Cool J.

In an interview with the Mark & Neanderpaul radio program on Phoenix, United States, station 100.7 KSLX, Halford commented on the voting results and revealed the rejection letter he received from the organization.

“We have the nomination, which is a certain recognition for our work, but we didn't make it this time. However, I'm hopeful that one day we'll have more Metal in the Hall of Fame.”

The ceremony will take place on April 14th in Cleveland, Ohio and will be broadcast on HBO and internet channels.

Check out the rejection letter below, followed by a video of Halford commenting on the result:

"Thank you for accepting your nomination to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Although you did not receive enough votes to be inducted this year, you were part of a very select group of nominees. Artists are often nominated many times before being inducted. For example, Black Sabbath were nominated eight times before their induction, Patti Smith seven times, Solomon Burke nine times, and both the Beastie Boys and the Yardbirds were nominated three times before their respective inductions.".

If you are touring or simply passing by, please visit our museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Our six floors showcase the extraordinary history of rock and roll and how it changed the world. You are part of this history, and we want to share it with you. Once again, congratulations on your nomination.”.

Sincerely,
Greg Harris, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
