Rob Halford shared in a recent interview for the Crapbag Podcast what it was like to watch the famous mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap .

“I love satire. Glenn [Tipton] loves satire,” he recalls, revealing that his bandmate was with him the first time he saw the film in 1984. “The thing about satire is that you can only satirize things that happened in the real world.”

“For us, that’s what Spinal Tap was about,” he continues. “We could see ourselves in that movie every time, whether it was in the hotels or getting lost on stage or things going wrong on stage with the props. It was like watching ourselves from the outside looking in. We laughed throughout the whole thing.”

Spinal Tap reunited last October for a special, political reason: to raise funds to defeat then-President of the United States, Donald Trump .
