Rob Halford of Judas Priest says that producing the new album was special for the group.

In an interview, the lead singer talks about freedom and creativity, as well as mentioning the band's chemistry in the studio

Invincible Shield , the new album from legendary British band Judas Priest , released by Sony Music, is scheduled for release on March 8th. Rob Halford , the band's vocalist since 1973, spoke with interviewer Alan Ovington (via Soundcloud ) and said that the production process for the new project is quite similar to that of all the other albums the band has released.

Rob announced the album in January 2023 and, using a release strategy very similar to the Waterfall Strategy, has been releasing singles one after the other since October of the same year.

After releasing an album visualizer in October 2023, the first single, "Panic Attack," was launched , also in October, and has already garnered over 1.5 million views on YouTube. In November, the single "Trial By Fire" was released , followed shortly after its music video , the first from the album, and then the video for "Panic Attack," which was released in January of this year.

The new album brings back the good old Judas Priest atmosphere, with the perfect harmony of the two guitars and Rob Halford's powerful vocals, reminiscent of Painkiller , the 1990 album. Regarding the album's production and recording, Rob said (via Bablermouth ): “But yeah, I go into the room with Glenn [Tipton, Priest guitarist] and Richie [Faulkner, Priest guitarist] and the riffs start. It's a lot of improvisation, a lot of riffing and a lot of free creativity. It's simply remarkable how this whole process, this chemistry between the three of us happens, and we love it. It's very, very special to us.”

Judas Priest, after Black Sabbath , is one of the forerunners of the heavy metal we know today and, with almost 20 albums released, has also evolved in its studio production process. Regarding production technology and AI, Rob commented:

“Technology, of course, has changed dramatically. We went back to three-inch reel-to-reel tapes and then to digital tapes, and now we’re in the Pro Tools world. And you have to be very careful that technology doesn’t take the lead in the whole songwriting and recording process, because it’s very easy to get caught up in that AI world of music making – you know, cutting and pasting and all that kind of stuff. We’ve always kept that real at Priest, and we always will.”
