Judas Priest 's new album is officially in the works! And frontman Rob Halford shared more details about the successor to 2018's Firepower  In The Trenches With Ryan Roxie .

“I’m old school. We had a great songwriting session last March for this new album that we’re still working on,” Halford says about the project’s progress (via Blabbermouth ). “And what I mean by that is Glenn [ Tipton ], Richie [ Faulkner ] and me in Glenn’s beautiful studio. And that’s how I personally write. I’m very spontaneous in my writing. Even before the lyrics and melodies start, I’m there with Glenn and Richie, and I’m inspired and motivated by what they’re doing… What I’m saying is about the place that all musicians like to be, being creative, and being in a room with your bandmates, making a song and saying, ‘Wow, man. I can’t wait for the fans to hear this!’”

Firepower was a beautiful achievement for us; I’m very, very proud of that record,” he continued. “And, of course, when you set a limit, you always kind of think, ‘Oh, now we have to try and crush it with the successor to Firepower .’ That can be dangerous. I think you can easily get confused by focusing too much on expectation. We’ve been doing this for so long that we never guess the final result, we always play with our hearts, with our guts.”

“These (new Judas Priest songs) that I have with me are very good. I’m so happy and so proud of what we have so far, and there’s so much more to come,” Rob shares.
