Rob Halford , lead singer of Judas Priest , was honored with the title of Colonel of Kentucky, awarded to "individuals in recognition of achievements worthy of attention or exceptional service."

Last Monday, the 14th, Rob Halford, who divides his time between his home in Phoenix, Arizona, and the United Kingdom, shared a photo on social media of himself holding a certificate signed by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Secretary of State Michael Adams . In the photo's caption, the vocalist thanked the politicians and "the people of Kentucky."

The award is the highest honor bestowed by the Kentucky community in the United States. It was created in 1818 during the second term of Governor Isaac Shelby after a successful campaign during the War of 1812.

Kentucky Colonels is a non-profit charitable organization, and those named as colonels, the website explains, are people who “take it a step further toward kindness, goodwill, and pride in the Kentucky community.”.

Halford joins the list of Kentucky Colonels alongside Robert Plant, Dave Mustaine, John Lennon, Tommy Thayer, and Zakk Wylde.
