In an interview with Metal Pilgrim , Rob Halford Judas Priest album , which is currently in production and follows 2018's Firepower
Halford stated that the album is practically complete, but that the band should still have "two or three" more songwriting sessions. "We are very critical and analytical about the work we do because we know we have a collection of metal treasures in our history and we don't want to leave the world of heavy metal; we want to make sure that this project has the same essence, the same characteristics, the same class and the same quality that all Priest albums have had."
Rob Halford also revealed that Glenn Tipton , who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, is still involved in the songwriting process for Judas Priest. "He's still a guitarist. Obviously, he plays differently now because of the daily battle with Parkinson's, but he's never let that diminish him. He's able to build songs in a way that makes his contribution as valuable as it ever was," Halford stated.
The musician also confirmed that producer and guitarist Andy Sneap will continue to fill in for Tipton on tour. “Andy did an incredible job on the Firepower and we’re looking forward to repeating the experience with him on the 50th anniversary tour. And don’t rule out the fact that Glenn can handle it. He plays guitar differently, but there’s no reason why he can’t take on the role and do the job,” he concluded.
