Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford spoke in a recent interview about prostate cancer, which he has been fighting since 2017 and is currently in remission. According to Louder , the musician encouraged fans of the same age to get all the necessary checkups and also spoke about the health of his bandmate Richie Faulkner , who suffered an aneurysm in October.

Halford spoke about how he dealt with cancer during the pandemic, adding that Judas Priest “was going on hiatus anyway,” so he was able to focus on taking care of his health and promoting his autobiography, Confess , which was recently updated with a new chapter including details about his diagnosis and treatment.

“It’s a miracle what you can do with health insurance these days; it’s absolutely extraordinary. In my story, the main message is for men around the world to get blood tests, prostate exams, and colonoscopies when they reach a certain age,” says Halford. “Older guys like me end up avoiding it, and that’s the worst thing to do.”

Halford also thanked the professionals who “brought Richie back” after the serious aneurysm the guitarist suffered on stage, and assured that Faulkner is doing well. “Everything in life is relative and you never go through life alone, there are always people who help you along the way. Priest fans have helped us throughout these 50 years,” he said. “I spoke to [Richie] two days ago. He sounded great on the phone. We had a long chat about the tour and everything we want to do with Priest. The journey never ends.”
