Rob Halford celebrates 37 years of sobriety: "One day at a time"

The Judas Priest vocalist sent a message to fans and those on the same path to sobriety.

Rob Halford , lead singer of Judas Priest, is celebrating 37 years of sobriety . The news was shared in a post on the musician's social media, in which he appears holding an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) membership card.

The 71-year-old singer displays his AA card with the words "for your own true self" and "unity, service, and recovery" surrounding the number 37. In the released video, he talks about the moment:

"Hi everyone. Today marks my 37th year of sobriety, one day at a time. When I look at this commemorative coin, I am filled with love for my higher power and grateful to you because having you in my life helps me stay focused on doing my best in all areas of metal, as well as trying to be a better person by taking daily inventory."

I believe we never stop growing and seeking ways to do anything that improves not only our lives, but also the lives of all those we love. None of this is easy, and it wasn't meant to be. We have to work and constantly dig deep into every aspect of ourselves to keep ourselves clean and sober.

To those who are on the same journey, I send my unconditional love. And to those who are about to begin, please take the first step into your new life. I love you.”
