Today, the 15th, the nominees for the most important award in world cinema were announced: the Oscars . And among the most celebrated productions, the film The Sound of Silence puts heavy metal music in the spotlight at the awards ceremony.
The film, originally titled Sound of Metal , was nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Editing, and Best Actor for Riz Ahmed , who makes history as the first Arab actor to be nominated for an Oscar.
In the film, Ahmed plays Ruben Stone , who, alongside his partner Lou , played by Olivia Cooke , lives in a trailer on the road, performing with his punk band in underground , seeking to make a living from his greatest passion: music. However, about to begin a new tour, the musician begins to realize that his hearing is starting to fail, thus drawing the viewer into the agonizing experience faced by the character, from the constant noise of the music to the silence.
