Guitarist Scott Holiday spoke about the upcoming Rival Sons album
Scott Holiday , guitarist for Rival Sons , spoke about the upcoming album in an interview with United Rock Nations .
“The album was written by me and Jay Buchanan [vocalist] in a cabin in Tennessee , between two lakes. Then, we all got together in the studio to agree on which songs we wanted to work on. It was a more focused and, at the same time, less collaborative writing process. I think it worked better than on previous albums… I think it’s our best work so far,” he said.
The guitarist also spoke about the new song “Back In The Woods”.
“This is a song that I wrote almost entirely in my bedroom. I didn’t know if it would make it onto the album until I showed it to the guys in the band. It took a while to get what I wanted rhythmically with the drums. But I think it became a highlight,” he said.
Jay also participated in the writing process. “He wrote a really wonderful hook. It’s a very fun song. Emotionally, it’s one of the lightest, if not the lightest, on the album.”
