Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore stated in an interview with a Danish radio station that the members of Deep Purple are still active longer than they should be. According to the guitarist, the band is "pushing it too far ." Here's what he said:
"I don't know what to say. I left them 20 years ago. But I personally think they're pushing it too far. And I hear that from a lot of people. That they just keep going. If I were them, I'd take a five-year break or something like that. Some of them aren't happy at home, so they prefer to tour."
I think they work too hard. And I blame it on their agent, I think he's a bit of a whippersnapper. They go to India, and then Australia, and then South America, and of course, it becomes obvious, some of them are starting to get sick. Ian Gillan, the vocalist, he gets sick very often, so I think they should rest, but it's up to them.
I remember Jon Lord saying, when he was in the band, "I don't know if this band will know when to stop." And I thought that was funny.
