Blackmore's Night US tour last Wednesday, the 19th
The band, formed by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his wife, vocalist Candice Night , performed only two of the six scheduled tour dates. A note on Blackmore's Night's stated: "All Blackmore's Night shows have been postponed at this time due to medical reasons."
Now, Ritchie Blackmore has released an official statement explaining the health problems that forced him to cancel his most recent tour. The musician struggled with "severe vertigo" for several days. Read the statement below:
"A brief summary for those who have nothing better to do: I have a long history of herniated discs in the lumbar and cervical regions. Consequently, I used to get injections in my back before a tour to relieve the pain. Recently, I've started suffering from debilitating migraines. They come and go very quickly. When I see the visual disturbances of these ocular migraines, I know they're coming."
“When we took the long drive from Pennsylvania to Newton, New Jersey, we stayed at a hotel where there was a wedding party going on all night in the hallways. There was no heating in the room and the sheets were still damp. I assume this culminated in a severe migraine attack for me. I couldn't stop vomiting. The room was spinning non-stop and I was extremely dizzy, to the point where I couldn't stand up. They called an ambulance.”
“I was taken to the hospital and they did CT scans and other tests. They were very attentive. The doctors concluded that my official diagnosis was severe vertigo. The results of that lasted for several days. Now I'm monitoring the severity of these migraines with several doctors. When you're on tour, many people need to be healthy. Unfortunately, this time I was the one who got the worst of it. I hope to see you all again someday, when I'm recovered. All the best, Ritchie, a guitarist.”
Blackmore's Night had been away from the stage since May Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. In August of this year, Candice Night revealed that Blackmore is currently dealing with "three main" health issues.
Ritchie Blackmore suffered a heart attack in 2023 and is under constant monitoring.
