Rita Lee will be honored at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards. The singer will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, which serves as a tribute to the artist's complete body of work.

The news was revealed last Monday, the 25th, in São Paulo, by the CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, Manuel Abud , during the launch event for the Brazilian version of the Acoustic Sessions , which, in its first edition, will pay tribute to the queen of Brazilian rock.

The names chosen to celebrate the iconic Rita Lee were Giulia Be , Agnes Nunes , Luísa Sonza , Paula Lima and Manu Gavassi . They will record versions of Lee's hit songs such as "Amor e Sexo," "Lança Perfume," "Mania de Você," "Coisas da Vida," and others.

The celebration comes after Rita Lee won a battle against lung cancer, which she was diagnosed with last year.

According to a publication by the Academy, the 23rd Latin Grammy Awards are scheduled for November 17th and will return to Las Vegas, in the United States.

The awards ceremony celebrating excellence in Latin music worldwide will be broadcast live on Univision in the US. There is no information about a broadcast in Brazil at this time.

The nominees will be revealed on September 30th, after the first round of voting takes place between July 28th and August 8th. A second round of voting will be held between September 30th and October 13th to determine the winners.
