Ringo Starr , the legendary former drummer of the Beatles , surprised fans last Friday, the 12th, by releasing "February Sky." The track is the first single from his upcoming EP titled Crooked Boy . The highlight of this new work is the collaboration with renowned singer-songwriter Linda Perry . Linda is the vocalist of the American group 4 Non Blondes .
Linda, who had already collaborated with Ringo on two tracks from previous EPs, approached the former Beatle with a proposal to produce a full EP for him. The result was Crooked Boy , composed of four songs written by the singer: "February Sky," "Gonna Need Someone," "Adeline," and "Crooked Boy."
In a statement , Ringo shared his experience with the EP's production process. “Linda made a great EP for me. She produced it in her studio and then sent me the tracks, and I added the drums and my vocals.” He described “February Sky” as a “very dark” track, but emphasized that, being a creation Linda made especially for him, it possesses a positive element of “peace and love.”
In addition to the digital release of the EP, scheduled for April 26, fans will have the opportunity to purchase a limited edition marbled vinyl on Record Store Day , an annual event celebrating record store culture, on April 20.
