In 2019, Ringo Starr filed a lawsuit against a company that used his name on a sex toy. The product, called Ring O , bothered the musician, who has his name trademarked, but the company also registered the product name, resulting in a legal battle.
Now, the former Beatle has dropped the lawsuit, and the company Pacific Holdings and Momentum Management is free to defend itself. The drummer claimed that the product name could cause confusion among fans, but the company did not concede. According to him, the name was "identical in appearance, sound, connotation, and pronunciation," which violated his trademark.
The lawsuit was dropped by Ringo after reaching an agreement with the company, which will now use the name Ring O with another word or symbol in the middle to avoid the sound and spelling of Ringo. The company agreed to the change because it does not want to "harm or depreciate" its name.
