Riley Gale , vocalist for the thrash metal band Power Trip , passed away last Monday, the 24th. The news was confirmed by his family, who did not reveal the cause of death.
“Riley touched so many people with his lyrics and his huge heart. He treated everyone he met like a friend and always looked out for his friends. We will celebrate Riley’s life and never forget the great work he did with his music, charity, and all the love he left behind,” the family said in a statement posted on the band’s social media.
Power Trip was formed in 2008 and has released two studio albums, Manifest Decimation in 2013 and Nightmare Logic in 2017. The latter was considered one of the 20 best albums of the year by Rolling Stone magazine.
In 2018, the group released a compilation titled Opening Fire: 2008-2014 and earlier this year released a live album, Live in Seattle 05.28.2018 . Gale also participated in Body Count's most recent album, Carnivore , on the song "Point The Finger". On Twitter, the group's frontman Ice-T wrote: "I still don't know how... I'm speechless." He then shared a video of Body Count and Riley performing the song in quarantine. Watch it below.
Rest in peace, Riley Gale.
