Earlier this month, Lynyrd Skynyrd was forced to cancel a series of shows because guitarist Rickey Medlocke tested positive for COVID-19. On Sunday night, August 22nd, Rickey returned to the stage for a show at the Barefoot Country Musical Festival.
Before his return, the guitarist appeared on the band's Instagram profile smiling to reassure fans and announce his full recovery. Rickey thanked fans for their support and kind messages, as well as the efficiency of the medical team that cared for him. "I had no idea I was so loved," he commented with a smile.
At the end of his statement, Rickey Medlocke appealed to fans to take care of themselves and stay safe because the experience of having COVID-19 “is not fun.” Watch the statement and videos of Sunday night’s performance:
