The Winery Dogs released two studio albums.

In an interview with Sofa King Cool, Richie Kotzen, former member of Poison and Mr. Big, spoke about his power trio with Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Adrenaline Mob) and Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, David Ledd Roth), called The Winery Dogs.

“We made the first album [self-titled, released in 2013], and it did very, very well. I mean, it’s a very good album. Considering what was happening – or what is happening – with record sales, that album did very well. And because of that, we made another album, Hot Streak. After that album, I think it made sense for us to take a break […]“.

“I thought, ‘Well, that worked, it was fun, it was really cool. But I want to go back to being Richie for a while and do what I was doing before.’ And Billy has Mr. Big, they keep making great music and touring, and Mike, although I’m sure he loves playing with The Winery Dogs, his skill on the instrument and his style, it’s something he needs to do too, because it’s in his blood. So, it makes sense that we go back and do what we were doing before. But it also makes sense that eventually we get back together and do something new.”

Richie Kotzen's 21st solo album, Salting Earth , was released in April 2017. Mike Portonoy and Billy Sheehan are playing in Sons Of Apollo, whose debut album Psychotic Symphony was released last October.
