The jury ruled in favor of Led Zeppelin at the end of June
Michael Skidmore, the lawyer who took the Stairway To Heaven plagiarism case to court and lost last month, filed an appeal this weekend.
Skidmore is the representative of the Randy Craig Wolfe Trust, an organization on behalf of the composer and Taurus band member who wrote the song "Spirit" .
In the trial, which ended on June 23, the jury concluded that Page and Plant had heard Taurus before creating Stairway To Heaven and that Skidmore had just cause to sue, but that there was no evidence that the elements of each song were actually similar.
While he was alive, Randy Craig never sued Led Zeppelin, although he said in a news report that he felt saddened by what happened: “I would say they copied. And they made millions off the music and never said 'thank you'. They never said 'Can we pay you some money for this?'. And that's a bit of an uncomfortable issue for me.”
