To help you prepare, we've put together a list of all of Korn's iconic visits to Brazil, which included collaborations with Sepultura, an Ozzy Osbourne 's son Rob Trujillo on bass at just 12 years old.
2002: First time in Brazil
Korn's first visit to Brazil took place in 2002 at the former Credicard Hall (now Vibra São Paulo). On that occasion, the show featured the opening band Pavilhão 9 and included special appearances by Iggor Cavaleraof Sepultura and guitarist Billyof Biohazard.
Korn's debut in Brazil was marked by intense heat and frenzied fans jumping along to the setlist, which combined tracks from the albums Korn (1994), Life is Peachy (1996), Follow the Leader (1998) and Issues (1999).
2008: Opening for Ozzy Osbourne
Korn's second visit to Brazil was in 2008 alongside Black Label Society as one of the opening acts for Ozzy Osbourne's tour.
The Prince of Darkness was in the country for the third time, 13 years after his last visit, to promote the album Black Rain (2007).
The performance took place at the Palestra Itália Stadium (now Allianz Parque) and Korn pleased the audience with a robust setlist of 13 tracks. Among them were "Freak on a Leash", "Falling Away From Me" and "Blind".
2010: Tour prior to 'Korn III: Remember Who You Are'
In April 2010, the band returned to Credicard Hall to conclude the South American tour that preceded the release of the album Korn III: Remember Who You Are (2010) in July.
On that occasion, the group added the new single “Oildale” to the setlist and treated fans to a jam session right before the hit “Freak On a Leash”. The night was also marked by James Shaffer swapping his guitar for a bagpipe during “Shoots and Ladders”.
2013: Monsters of Rock and Sepultura's participation
Korn's debut at Monsters of Rock was marked by a historic collaboration between the band and the musicians from Sepultura.
The partnership was not planned in advance and came as a big surprise, both for the artists and the audience.
Andreas Kisser and Derrick Green did not participate in the festival, but they were present at the event. Backstage, Kisser reportedly met bassist Fieldy, who suggested they play "Roots Bloody Roots." The idea was accepted, and the surprise performance happened live after a mini-rehearsal (via TMDQA!).
2015: Debut at Rock in Rio
In 2015, Korn finally performed for the first time at Rock in Rio. The band shared the stage with Royal Blood, Mötley Crüe , and Metallica, and took the opportunity to play their biggest hits and some heavier tracks from their early career. The setlist wasn't much different from previous shows, but it convinced the audience.
2017: Tour with Rob Trujillo's son on bass
In 2017, Korn made their last visit to Brazil, but they had an unexpected guest.
At the time, Fieldy claimed he would not participate in the Latin American tour because he was unable to travel (due to undisclosed reasons). The unusual choice of replacement was Tye Trujillo, son of Rob Trujillo, who was only 12 years old at the time.
Despite initial apprehension, the audience welcomed Tye's participation, encouraging and applauding him, especially during his solo bass performance (via Metal Revolution).
