Relive Mötley Crüe's shows in Brazil: From intimate sets to gifting a bass to a fan at Rock In Rio.

The band returns to the country for the third time in March of this year on tour with Def Leppard; next week

Formed in 1981, Mötley Crüe became a world-renowned band with hits like "Live Wire" and "Kickstart My Heart," coupled with the musicians' infamous rockstar attitude, establishing themselves as one of the biggest names in glam and hair metal of that decade.

In their long four-decade career, the band has only played in Brazil twice, the same number of times as their colleagues Def Leppard , who will soon be arriving in South America with Mötley Crüe for the Stadium Tour . The bands will perform a single show in São Paulo on March 7th at Allianz Parque.

Mötley Crüe in Brazil: Remember the shows

Mötley Crüe's first visit to Brazil took place exactly 30 years after the band's formation: it was on May 17, 2011, with a single show at Credicard Hall (now Vibra), in São Paulo, in a much more intimate set, without big stage effects, but with a loyal audience singing all the classics at the top of their lungs.

At the time, the group was promoting Saints of Los Angeles , from 2008, their first album of new material in eight years, and preparing the release of the successful biopic The Dirt , available on Netflix. “[The show will be] sensational, [made by] four guys who are very excited, as this is our first time in Brazil,” Tommy Lee told UOL Música at the time.

On their second visit to Brazil, in 2015, Mötley Crüe headlined the World Stage at Rock In Rio, performing before the night's headliners, Metallica .

That explosive show, complete with flames, short-sleeved backing vocals, and intense emotion, almost marked Mötley Crüe's farewell to Brazilian fans, as the band was on their so-called Final Tour , with a signed contract and a promise to leave the stage forever.

At the end of the performance, Nikki Sixx even gifted a fan in the audience with the bass guitar he used during the performance!

Fortunately, the band returned to activity after the success of The Dirt and the opportunity to do a reunion tour in stadiums across the Northern Hemisphere, a success that is now reaching South America.

This time without guitarist Mick Mars , who has retired from the stage due to health issues, the band will perform in São Paulo next week, on March 7th, at Allianz Parque, accompanied by John 5.
