War Music will be an album with left-wing ideologies of struggle, said Refused.
Refused is back with new music. The Swedish art-punk band has announced their new album, War Music , which will be released on October 18th.
It's been four years since Refused released their comeback album, Freedom . It was their most streamed album, reaching number 2 on the Swedish Top Album Chart.
War Music 's first single , "Blood Red," has been released, and the music video can be seen below.
Regarding the album, the band said it is driven by a left-wing political and social ideology:
Right now, we who believe in the equitable distribution of wealth, in a direct, egalitarian, and ecological democracy, we who use gender-neutral pronouns like solidarity, moral responsibility, intersectionality, and class struggle, we who believe in Marxism, are backed against the wall, surrounded by enemies. Our movements are being prohibited and our rights violated. It has been clear for some time: the sun is setting on our beliefs.
But we still believe that capitalism is cancer
And we still believe it can be cured.
We believe that patriarchy is a cancer
And we still believe it can be cured.
We still believe in the power of art to transform and expand the mind.
Last but not least:
We still believe in the total and violent obliteration of the 1%.
Red blood until they were all completely dead.
Let's go."
