Frusciante's return to the Red Hot Chili Peppers was officially marked in February 2020, when the guitarist performed his first show with the band in 10 years . Larger plans, however, were postponed due to the pandemic, which did not prevent the guitarist from releasing his first song with Flea after a decade.

Recently, producer Rick Rubin admitted that he cried when he saw Frusciante rehearsing again with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
