Red Hot Chili Peppers released their album Unlimited Love , their first since the return of guitarist John Frusciante.

Speaking about the new material, drummer Chad Smith commented: “John hasn’t been in the band for 10 years. That’s a long time. So of course it’s going to sound different, but it’s going to sound like the four of us because we have this special chemistry together. It sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it’s different and new, and for me that’s great… We really like the result and we’re proud.”

Regarding the album, which features 17 unreleased tracks, the group explained their objective: “Our only goal is to lose ourselves in the music. We spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and coming together, for each other, to make the best album we could,” the band said in a statement signed by all four members.

“Each of the songs on our new album is a facet of ourselves, reflecting our vision of the universe. This is our life's mission.”
