The Red Hot Chili Peppers are expected to return to the studio soon to begin work on their new studio album, the successor to The Getaway (2016), according to frontman Anthony Kiedis .
During an interview with the New York Post , the lead singer revealed that the band plans to meet in the studio in two weeks to begin new work.
The release will mark the band's 12th studio album and the third with the current lineup, consisting of Kiedis , bassist Flea , drummer Chad Smith , and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer .
