Red Hot Chili Peppers perform with Post Malone at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

The partnership caused public confusion

Last Sunday, February 10th, the Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage at the Grammy Awards with rapper Post Malone .

The performance began with the rapper performing the song "Stay" solo on acoustic guitar. Shortly after, he walked around the stage while singing his hit, "Rockstar." Both tracks are from his 2018 album, Beerbongs & Bentleys

Next, Malone picked up a guitar and joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Together, they played "Dark Necessities," a song released in 2016 by Anthony Kiedis and company.

The partnership, besides being unusual, caused confusion among the audience. See the full performance below. This isn't the first time Post Malone has teamed up with a rock group. At the 2018 VMAs, the rapper performed with the veterans of Aerosmith .
