After announcing a world tour with the return of John Frusciante , the Red Hot Chili Peppers confirmed that they are finishing recording their new album – their first with the guitarist since 2006.
Speaking to Rolling Stone , Chad Smith stated that the entire band is proud of the new album and said that they don't try to compare the new works with the previous ones, stating that "all of our albums are very good reflections of the moment we are living in."
“John hasn’t been in the band for 10 years. That’s a long time,” Smith continues. “So of course it’s going to sound different, but it’s going to sound like the four of us because we have this special chemistry together. It sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it’s different and new, and for me that’s great… We really like the result and we’re proud of it, and that’s where it begins.”
Still talking about John Frusciante, Chad Smith revealed that the guitarist is "super dedicated. He's working really hard. We're all working really hard, but he's there with all the layering and the magic that he brings."
