New Red Hot Chili Peppers album

The follow-up to Unlimited Love will be the first time in almost 40 years that the band has released two albums in one year.

Frusciante returned in 2019, but the pandemic delayed the group's plans. It seems that the new songs are a result of the time Anthony Kiedis spent in the studio with Flea and Chad Smith.

On their official website, the band released a statement about Return Of The Dream Canteen : “We went in search of ourselves as the band we somehow always were. Just for fun, we jammed and learned some old songs. A short time later we began the mysterious process of building new music. A beautiful piece of chemistry that had brought us together hundreds of times along the way.”

“When we found that flow of sound and vision, we kept mining. With time transformed into an elastic waistband with oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop composing and making rock and roll. It felt like a dream. When everything was finished, our temperamental love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well, then we understood. Two double albums in a row. The second being easily as significant as the first, or vice versa. Return of the Dream Canteen is everything we are and always dreamed of being. It's packaged.”

And they signed the text with: "Made with the blood of our hearts, sincerely."
