A Seattle record store, Easy Street Records, found a check cashed by Kurt Cobain dated months before the release of Nirvana 's Nevermind .

The check for $26.57 was made out to Kurt D. Cobain with an address in Olympia, Walsh. The money was the equivalent of the royalties the vocalist was being paid by BMI at the time.

The memory was shared on the store's social media with the following caption: "We're guessing the checks he received after this one were for a larger amount," they joked, referring to the success of Nevermind .

Store employees revealed that the check was found among a large collection they purchased sometime during the 1990s. See the photo below.
