People from Rio Grande do Sul will have another opportunity to enjoy a show by one of the most iconic and influential bands in the Brazilian music scene. Ratos de Porão will perform again in Porto Alegre on August 31st at Opinião, the same venue where they played with the Rio Grande do Sul band Os Replicantes last year. Currently, the band consists of João Gordo (vocals), Jão (guitar), Juninho (bass), and Boka (drums).

Formed in 1981 in São Paulo, Ratos de Porão played a fundamental role in the consolidation and internationalization of Brazilian punk and hardcore. Pioneers of these styles in Brazil, they helped establish an alternative music scene during the 1980s, a period marked by political and social repression in the country, with songs that captured the feeling of revolt and dissatisfaction of many young people at the time.

Many of the band's lyrics are known for their scathing critiques of society, politics, and the country's social problems, addressing themes such as inequality, violence, corruption, and oppression.

Fresh from another European tour that included fifteen shows in various countries such as Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Finland, the band promises a show with a repertoire that encompasses their entire career up to their most recent album, Necropolítica , released in 2022.

With over four decades of activity, Ratos de Porão remains relevant and active, and its ability to reinvent itself while staying true to its roots is a testament to its enduring importance in Brazilian music.

The opening act will be the band Código Penal , originally from Sapucaia do Sul (RS), and, in the same vein as Ratos de Porão, their music also reflects social and political concerns and resistance to the system. Formed by Black to Face and Lucio Agace on vocals, Luciano Tatu on bass, Marcio Zuza and Eduardo Jack on guitars, and Cesar Pereba on drums, the band from Rio Grande do Sul mixes hardcore sound with rap.

Tickets are available through Sympla here or at the official box office (Loja Planeta Surf Bourbon Wallig) and are currently in their fourth and final batch.
