Tim Commerford had already protested against the band during the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, when Limp Bizkit won the award for Best Rock Video for " Break Stuff ," beating Rage Against "Sleep Now in the Fire ." On that occasion, Commerford climbed onto the stage decorations and hung there until security guards forced him down.
Despite spending the night in jail because of the incident, Commerford says he would do it again: "If I could do it again, I would have torn the decorations to shreds and left them in tatters."
