Randy Meisner, bassist, vocalist and co-founder of the Eagles , died at age 77 after complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The news was revealed on the band's social media on Thursday, the 27th, a day after his death.
In the statement, the band wrote: “Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and fundamental to the band's early success. His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident in 'Take It to the Limit'.”
Meisner, along with the Eagles, was responsible for the hits "Hotel California," "Take It Easy," and "One of These Nights." He contributed to all but two of their albums ( The Long Run, 1979, and Long Road Out of Eden, 2007, being the only studio albums on which he did not play). After leaving the band in 1977, he pursued a solo career, releasing his self-titled debut album in 1978, followed by One More Song in 1980 and another self-titled album in 1982. In 2001, he collaborated with Billy Swan and Charlie Rich Jr. on the album Meisner, Swan & Rich.
