Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God: "The Human Race has to be better than this"

Lead singer speaks out about attacks

Lamb Of God's lead singer, Randy Blythe, issued a statement regarding the tragedy that killed 22 people and injured nearly 60 others at the exit of Ariana Grande's concert.

See the statement:

"I'm fed up with reading headlines like that. We, as a race, THE HUMAN RACE, have to be better than this. A music concert is supposed to be a place where people go to forget their problems for a few hours, not a place where their lives could be at risk.".

In moments like these, I think the only thing a normal person can do is try to be the best we humans can be. In times like this, I believe that's more important than ever. For example, as soon as I saw the news, I ran into a distant acquaintance at a grocery store and commented on the news. The person joked, "Maybe it was because it was an Ariana Grande concert." I was in such a state of shock that I couldn't respond. I can't see the humor in the fact that 22 people are dead and many injured, regardless of what you might think of any artist's music.

I don't know anything about Ariana Grande or any of her music, but I can guarantee that people of different races, religions, and beliefs were at the show for the same reason – to have fun. Some of them won't be going home today. That's not funny to me at all. This kind of joke and mentality is evidence of how pathetic the low moral standards we live with in this era are. It's inhumane, just as terrifying are the distorted beliefs that allowed this terrorist asshole to kill a bunch of people he didn't know.

Everything you say and do has consequences, even if you don't believe it. Do your best to think and speak with a kind heart. Perhaps that kindness will prevent someone from going down a dark path. You never know who you might positively affect.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in Great Britain
