Randy Blythe , from Lamb of God , doesn't hide his opinions when it comes to social issues. But, contrary to what many might think, the vocalist doesn't identify with either a left-wing or right-wing ideology.
“I think some people think, ‘Wow, this guy is super liberal in every aspect,’ and that’s not true,” he explained in an interview with Full Metal Jackie’s show (via Blabbermouth) . “In some ways, I’m quite conservative. I think change is definitely necessary in many ways in our society, but I think in many ways, with this rampant spread of technology, a lot of good values are being abandoned. Some people would look at that and say, ‘Oh, that’s boring conservatism,’ but I don’t care.”
Therefore, Blythe “doesn’t define himself” as liberal or conservative, nor Democrat or Republican, and criticized the existing political polarization in the United States. “That’s a problem in our country today, both on the left and the right,” he pointed out. “It’s this automatic reaction, that if you disagree on some kind of issue, because things are so polarized now, you’re automatically painted as A or B, and that’s idiotic, simply idiotic.”
In the vocalist's opinion, this type of stance divides society and prevents genuine dialogue. "We are all human beings," he said. "My role is to act according to my moral compass, which I would like to believe is empathetic and correctly calibrated."
