The lyrics we'll be analyzing today are for those who enjoy sinister stories with lots of blood; we're going to talk about the song "Mein Teil" by Rammstein . The band has several controversial songs with quite heavy lyrics, and this one is no different.
"
Mein Teil" can be directly translated as "my piece," and it's German slang for "my penis" (this slang will make sense later).
In
German media, the song is known as "Das Kannibalenlied" ("the cannibal song"). The lyrics tell a bit about the story of Armin Meiwes, born in the city of Rotenburg in 1961.
Meiwes was a rather lonely teenager, and according to him, his interest in cannibalism arose after reading the tale of Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm – popularly known in Brazil as João e Maria – because of the witch in the story who wants to "eat" the two young people.
However, Meiwes grew up and apparently his curiosity had become a thing of the past; he had become a computer repair technician at a company in his city, and everything was fine. But in 2001, when Meiwes was 40 years old, he posted an ad on The Cannibal Cafe website
(
aimed at people with cannibal fetishes). In his post, Meiwes said he was "looking for a strong person, between 18 and 30 years old, to be slaughtered and then consumed." Incredibly, several people responded to his ad, among them a young engineer from Berlin, Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes.

Are on the menu."
On
March 9, 2001, the two met at Meiwes's house in the city of Rotenburg. Both men made a video (with the victim's consent) in which Meiwes amputated Brandes' penis with a knife, and then they tried to eat the organ while it was still raw.
Both disliked the result, so Meiwes fried the penis in a pan and added some of Brandes' fat, but the organ was completely burnt and inedible. Meiwes then cut the penis into pieces and fed it to his dog.
this
didn't seem like the best idea, especially because Brandes was obviously in a lot of pain, even though he had taken several aspirin pills and consumed a lot of alcohol, he decided to take a shower.
"The cut feels right and good.
I bleed too much and feel sick.
I also have to fight against fainting.
I will continue eating even during spasms."
In
the middle of the shower, he hemorrhaged, collapsed, and fainted. Meiwes didn't hesitate; he started filming Brandes and killed him by cutting his throat.
He dismembered the victim's body and kept it in his freezer, consuming it frequently over the next 10 months.

Because you are what you eat.”
His
desire didn't stop there, and he used the internet to talk about the crime and try to persuade new victims to come to his house.
In 2002, a student who also frequented the cannibal fetish website saw Meiwes's ads and found them too disturbing, so he called the police.
Meiwes was investigated, and after police searched his house and found body parts and a videotape of the murder, he was arrested.
He has stated that he wants to write a biography to try to help people with the same problems he had, “These people should go to treatment so they don’t get to the point I got to,” Meiwes said.
He
is currently serving a life sentence, and incredibly, after that incident he became a vegetarian.
