Richard Z. Kruspe , guitarist for Rammstein , posted a note on Instagram regarding the sentencing of Andrei Borovikov , who was condemned to prison for posting the "Pussy" music video on social media .

“I am aware of Andrei Borovikov’s case. According to news reports, a lawsuit was filed against him for sharing (…) the clip on Russian social media. I am very sorry that he was sentenced to prison for this,” Kruspe wrote. “The harshness of this sentence is shocking. Rammstein has always stood for freedom of art as a
basic right guaranteed to all people.”

Borovikov's defense argues that the conviction was politically motivated, as the Russian is a prominent political activist in the opposition to Vladimir Putin , and previously served as campaign coordinator for Alexei Navalny, who was also recently imprisoned after being convicted of insulting a World War II veteran.

The Rammstein music video was posted on the social network VK in 2014, and it is not the only one with the same content on the platform. Even so, BBC Russia reported that the activist was the only one investigated for "distributing pornography."
