"In the era of the #MeToo movement, it's awful that something like this still seems to exist."
Rami Malek , the actor who played Freddie Mercury in the film Bohemian Rhapsody , has spoken out about the allegations against director Bryan Singer .
Last Friday, the 1st, Malek was questioned by journalist Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter about the situation during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
My thoughts are with anyone who has to live with anything I've heard about and that has been published. It's awful that this happens, I can completely understand what these people have gone through and how difficult it must be for them. In the era of the #MeToo movement, it's terrible that something like this still seems to exist.”
The actor was also asked about his relationship with Singer, but he declined to elaborate: “My situation with Bryan was not pleasant, not at all. And that’s all I can say at the moment.”
Bryan Singer was accused by four men of sexually abusing him when they were minors, and the director denied the accusations. Singer was fired at the end of production due to the accusations and conflicts with the cast. He is still credited as the official director of the film Bohemian Rhapsody.
