Since the sudden death of Canisso , who suffered a heart attack in March of this year, a tribute concert to the former bassist had been longed for by fans who felt orphaned and wanted to pay their respects. After some time to ease the mourning, radio station 89 FM conceived this tribute with several guests and, in a noble gesture, all proceeds would be donated to Canisso's family.
The show scheduled for Audio Club in São Paulo brought together not only friends, but also many fans of all ages who wanted to participate in this celebration of the musician's legacy. Before it began, there was an announcement that the show would be recorded, followed by a moving statement from vocalist Rodolfo Abrantes, in which he declared that Canisso moved in many different circles, was a very good-natured guy, and that he felt blessed to have his friendship.
Amidst shouts of "Canisso!", Raimundos took the stage, but first Digão thanked the audience for their support and said it was a night to be happy for their friend, who had been a part of their lives and left a wonderful legacy: their fans. The backing band was Raimundos, currently composed of Digão (guitar/vocals), Caio (drums), Marquinhos (guitar), and Jean Moura (bass). With each song, they invited guests to join the band. The setlist was quite varied, covering the period when Rodolfo was part of the band, that is, songs from the band's classic era. Throughout the performance, images of the band in rehearsals, shows, and backstage were shown on the stage screen.
The first guests were Luiz Long Beach (vocals), Johnny Zanei (bass), and Bacalhau (drums) on the song "Deixa Eu Falar" (Let Me Speak). The fans participated enthusiastically, especially during the swear word in the chorus. A particularly surprising guest appearance was that of comedian Rogério Morgado (from the Pânico program) singing "Andar Na Pedra" (Walking on the Stone), who delivered excellent vocals and even included a hilarious imitation of Faustão at the end of the song. The headbanging at the beginning gave way to everyone singing along to "Selim" (Saddle) with Johnny Block (vocals) and Robério Santana (bass). The apparent tranquility ended when Thiago Monstrinho sang "Bê a Bá" (Basics); the guys even played a snippet of Slayer in the middle of the song, at which point a large mosh pit took over the dance floor to celebrate the moment.
Two unexpected guest appearances followed, with singer Ovelha and Lobão from the band Cheiro de Calcinha performing “Infeliz Natal”. Who would have imagined seeing these two singing Raimundos? The result was great! They continued with “Pompem” ( Ivan Sader ), “Roda Gigante” with Supla , one of the most celebrated songs of the night, “A Mais Pedida” ( Adriana Faria & Carol Navarro ), “20 e poucos anos” ( Fiuk ), “Nêga Jurema” ( Zeider ), and “Palhas do Coqueiro” ( BNegão ). All were very much celebrated by the fans.
Adriana Toscano , Canisso's widow, made a brief appearance and took the opportunity to thank the event's creator, José Camargo Junior (89 FM), and announce her son Pedro in "Esporrei Na Manivela". Pedro handled the vocals well, showing that he inherited his father's charisma. More guests arrived. It was Di Ferrero with "A Minha Prima", followed by comedian Eros Prado with "Reggae Do Maneiro" and Gabriel Thomaz singing two songs, "Aquela" and "I Saw You Saying".
The giant Jimmy London appeared to sing the anthem “Puteiro Em João Pessoa” to the delight of the frenzied audience. Digão didn't hold back in praising Vitor Kley , who participated in “Bonita”. Drummer PG participated in the heavy “ Baile Funky” and Thiago Monstrinho returned in “Tora-Tora”. They then played perhaps the band's biggest radio hit, “Mulher De Fases”, which featured Dinho Ouro Preto (Capital Inicial), Luiz Carlini (Tutti Frutti) and PJ (Jota Quest). The Audio Club turned into a giant karaoke, everyone sang every word of the lyrics, it was a beautiful scene to witness.
The final part of the show featured Andreas and Yohan Kisser , Badaui, and Cassius . With this lineup, nobody expected a ballad. They chose the fast and heavy "Herbocinética," with Andreas responsible for the solo. The surprise came next when Caio, improvising, played Sepultura on the drums. Andreas and Rogério Morgado shared vocals with the help of the audience, who went wild with this beautiful gift. At the end, with the entire venue chanting Sepultura, Kisser emphasized the importance Canisso had when he lent his studio for the first rehearsals with Derrick Green . Marcão from Charlie Brown Jr. participated in the farewell with “Eu Quero Ver O Oco” and “Killing In The Name” by Rage Against The Machine, along with all the guests on stage, providing an epic and unforgettable moment for all the fans. With a 2.5-hour performance, Raimundos honored and celebrated Canisso's life in the best way possible, playing his music. Despite the absence of Rodolfo and Fred, original members of the band, friends and fans made up for it with an incredible tribute that will be forever etched in the memory of everyone who was present that night.
