Rage Against The Machine is one of the names to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. The band was nominated five times before being accepted into the institution.
Shortly after the news of their induction, Rage Against The Machine released a statement on their social media thanking the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for "recognizing the music and mission" of the band and cited several milestones in their career, both musically and as activists.

“It’s an amazing journey for us to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . In 1991, four people in Los Angeles formed a musical group to stay where sound and solidarity intersect. We called ourselves Rage Against the Machine.”
A band that is as well known for our albums as it is for our fierce opposition to the US war machine, white supremacy, and exploitation.
A band whose music took alternative radio to new heights, while right-wing media companies tried to purge all the music we'd ever written from the airwaves.
A band that shut down the New York Stock Exchange for the first time in its history.
A band that was targeted by law enforcement organizations that tried to ban us from packed arenas for raising our voices to free Mumia Al Jamal , Leonard Peltier , and other political prisoners.
A band that sued the U.S. State Department for its fascist practice of using our music to torture innocent men at Guantanamo Bay.
A band that wrote rebellious songs in an abandoned industrial warehouse in the valley later dethroned Simon Cowell 's X Factor to reach number one in the UK charts and have the most downloaded song in UK history.
A band that funded and organized delegations to support Mexican Zapatista rebel communities in exposing the Mexican government's war against indigenous peoples.
A band whose experimentation in fusing punk, rock, and hip hop became a genre of its own.
